"Tail markings," were used by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. The purpose of these markings was to provide a visual means to rapidly identify the unit to which an aircraft was assigned.The Square J was used as the 8th Air Force's, 390th Bomb Group "tail marking". This pin design was selected for the 390th Memorial Museum's 2017 Reunion, as a way to remember, reflect, and respect all of the courageous men that fought for our country.
